Koi Ponds

Koi ponds are usually deeper than your average pond due to being able to have a few more fish than average. They are also built slightly different to your average pond as there should be no shelves; the pond should have straight flat walls and no slopes. This is to stop any unwanted predators stealing your fish.

Wildlife Ponds

We advise you to think about what type of pond you would like as if you want a wildlife pond normal fish or Koi fish would eat your tadpoles and frogs or other water animals. If you are entirely sure you want a wildlife pond then the pond should have varying depths with gentle sloping sides. This allows the small creatures (wildlife) to easily enter and exit the pond. Frogs prefer shallow water for spawning however having varying depths allows both large and small birds to drink and bathe in your pond.

Rock Gardens Ponds

Rock Garden ponds attract all kinds of local wildlife such as frogs as the small rocks that lean against each other provide caves for the wildlife. However you need to be careful where you place your rocks. Rocks around the pond can look beautiful but gravel at the bottom of the pond can interfere with pond filtration which is designed to remove waste from the fish. Pond rocks are usually a feature of the pond; they are an important part of pond landscaping. Every rock we install is carefully thought about prior to installation.
